slide2Loneliness has been recognised as a huge problem in our society, particularly for the elderly. A recent AGE UK study found that 10% of over 65’s described themselves as often or always lonely. Our rising population combined with cuts to services such as day services has exacerbated the problem which is set to get worse. Studies have linked loneliness to a lowered immune system and poorer health in the elderly and has identified a condition called ‘chronic inflammation’ as a result.
